My favourite artist everrrr, EM aka Emma Sheldrake is finally doing a local art showing not far from where I live. I discovered this little talent a few years ago while perusing a small art store/gallery on the Gold Coast. Her paintings immediately captured my attention and she quickly became one of my favourite painters. Her portfolio of work mainly consists of portraiture although she seems do a few one off pieces for commission. I love the mix of raw brash brush strokes, watered down shadow work and intricate detailing. I think the main reason I am drawn to her work is due to the amount of life she captures in the women's eyes. They are mesmerising, so intriguing, as if the models thoughts and emotions are literally coming out of the artwork itself.

Her showing begins on Friday the 13th November through to the 1st of December 2009 at the Joshua Levi Gallery, 2-6 Ipswich Road, Wooloongabba, QLD. If you live local I urge you to go have a look, the images below just don't do it justice.
